On June 25, 2025, I received a pneumococcal vaccine. On June 26, 2025, I began taking one 10 mg pill of rosuvastatin calcium (common brands: Crestor, Ezallor sprinkle). Within a few hours, I developed a severe oral abscess affecting my entire mouth (painful areas around the gums and upper palate), facial skin irritation, and sore throat inflammation. I did not take the next dose as prescribed. Over the following days, brushing my teeth and shaving became impossible, and I developed a fever with chills. I decided to take some medications: ? Leftover amoxicillin for 3 days, which seemed to provide some relief. ? Paracetamol 1 gram every 6 hours for pain management. On July 10, I returned to the medical office. I learnt that oral lesions are listed as a rare side effect of rosuvastatin. The following prescriptions were given to me: ? Amoxicillin 500 mg capsules (commonly known as AMOXIL), 1 capsule orally twice a day for 7 days. ? Nystatin 100,000 units/mL suspension (commonly known as MYCOSTATIN), 5 mL orally four times a day (swish in mouth and swallow). Test Results (based on sample collected on July 10) showed no bacteria (other than normal mouth flora), no fungus, and no virus were identified. Follow-Up (July 17): I felt better but not fully recovered. I could talk, swallow, and brush my teeth more easily, thought I still had a mild sore throat (left>right) and fatigue. I no longer had fever or chills. I reported ear pain, sore throat, and a cough, but my pulmonary effort was normal. My teeth and gums appeared clear, and the oral lesions were healing. Follow-Up (July 29): I still had a persistent cough (day and night), but the mouth lesions had healed and the sore throat had improved. I experienced a sensation of cold needles on my face and extreme skin sensitivity, making shaving difficult.
