Symptom narrative

Approximately 7 minutes after vaccination, a bystander noticed the patient appeared pale and less responsive. Healthcare team was notified, and patient was found in sitting position just outside the room where he was vaccinated. Patient was carried to the ground and set in a supine position with legs elevated. Patient did not experience fall or loss of consciousness. No altered mental status. Patient was fully alert and oriented but slow to respond. HR 80/min, 93% O2, and unable to obtain a BP. Bystander who initially noticed patient called 911, and parents decided he be transported to hospital. Patient skin color had returned by this time. Transferred to Sacramento Fire EMS unit 56.
