She was given a pneumococcal vaccine on her left deltoid during her annual physical. A week later, she presented to the clinic with symptoms of fever, chills, swelling, and pain in the left arm, along with some left-sided chest pain. Workup including blood work, CBC, CMP was unremarkable. Blood cultures x2 were negative. EKG and chest x-ray all came back negative. She was prescribed a course of antibiotics and a taper of prednisone. She reports that her symptoms have improved since then.
