Symptom narrative

Patient reported to the pharmacy on 04/12/2026 because he has a colonoscopy coming up next week and he got a rash and a bruise on his left arm after the shingles vaccine he received the previous week (04/08/2026) and how this may interfere with the colonoscopy. The bruise (purple /black and blue) at the site of injection is about 1 inch in diameter. About 3-4 inches below the injection site, he reports a rash that started about 24 hours after the administration of the vaccine. This rash is about 5 inches in diameter and pink in color. He states there was some itching initially but that has mostly gone away (still slightly itchy if he touches the rash). He had not used any medications to ease his symptoms. He does reports he is on Eliquis 5 mg (which could have possibly increased risk for bruising at site of injection).
