He reports today, "I have shingles agaiN/ suspected vaccinatioon failure; Shingles; Nerve pain; This serious case was reported by a consumer via call center representative and described the occurrence of vaccination failure in a 66-year-old male patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingrix) for prophylaxis. Co-suspect products included Herpes zoster (Shingrix) for prophylaxis. The patient's past medical history included shingles (1st case of shingles prior to getting shingrix in 2021). In MAY-2021, the patient received the 2nd dose of Shingrix. In FEB-2021, the patient received the 1st dose of Shingrix. On 06-APR-2026, more than 2 years after receiving Shingrix and Shingrix, the patient experienced vaccination failure (Verbatim: He reports today, "I have shingles agaiN/ suspected vaccinatioon failure) (serious criteria GSK medically significant) and shingles (Verbatim: Shingles). In APR-2026, the patient experienced post herpetic neuralgia (Verbatim: Nerve pain). The patient was treated with aciclovir (Acyclovir), gabapentin and lidocaine. The outcome of the vaccination failure was not reported and the outcome of the shingles and post herpetic neuralgia were not resolved. It was unknown if the reporter considered the vaccination failure, shingles and post herpetic neuralgia to be related to Shingrix and Shingrix. The company considered the vaccination failure to be unrelated to Shingrix and Shingrix. Additional Information: GSK receipt date 08-APR-2026 The patient had shingles again. He reported he had it on the right side of his back and a few spots in the arm. The patient stated it was mild but not milder than the 1st time. The reporter inquired, if it was normal to get shingles after 5 years. No additional event was reported. The reporter consented to follow up. This case was considered as suspected vaccination failure since the details regarding laboratory confirmation of shingles not reported.; Sender's Comments: A case of Vaccination failure, more than 2 years after vaccination with 2nd and 1st dose of Shingrix, in a 66-year-old male patient. Based on the available information a possible causality that the event was caused by GSK vaccine product cannot be ascertained. Consent for further follow up has not been received.
