Symptom narrative

Guillain-Barre.; Not able to go to work. Walking with cane, cannot work and cannot drive; Not able to go to work. Walking with cane, cannot work and cannot drive; Not able to go to work. Walking with cane, cannot work and cannot drive; This serious case was reported by a consumer via call center representative and described the occurrence of guillain barre syndrome in a elderly male patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingrix) for prophylaxis. On 15-DEC-2025, the patient received Shingrix. In DEC-2025, 4 days after receiving Shingrix, the patient experienced guillain barre syndrome (Verbatim: Guillain-Barre.) (serious criteria hospitalization and GSK medically significant). On an unknown date, the patient experienced inability to work (Verbatim: Not able to go to work. Walking with cane, cannot work and cannot drive), unable to walk (Verbatim: Not able to go to work. Walking with cane, cannot work and cannot drive) and driving ability disturbed (Verbatim: Not able to go to work. Walking with cane, cannot work and cannot drive). The outcome of the guillain barre syndrome was not resolved and the outcome of the inability to work, unable to walk and driving ability disturbed were not reported. It was unknown if the reporter considered the guillain barre syndrome, inability to work, unable to walk and driving ability disturbed to be related to Shingrix. The company considered the guillain barre syndrome to be unrelated to Shingrix. It was unknown if the company considered the inability to work, unable to walk and driving ability disturbed to be related to Shingrix. Additional Information: GSK receipt date 17-APR-2026 After 4 to 14 days the patient experienced short breath, not feeling well, difficulty climbing stairs, body tingling, numbness. Admitted to Emergency room for 10 days, then admitted to hospital, rehabilitation for 3 weeks for walking, receiving speech therapist, occupational therapist. The patient was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre. The health care professional said it could take 6 months. The batch number was not provided upon follow- up with the reporter.; Sender's Comments: A case of Guillain-Barre syndrome (not meeting Criteria), 4 days after receiving Shingrix in an elderly male patient. Case lacks further information on medical history, concurrent conditions and laboratory confirmation. Based on the available information a possible causality that the event was caused by the GSK product cannot be ascertained. Consent for further follow-up has not been received.
