The patient presented with difficulty speaking clearly, reporting slurred speech and an inability to pronounce certain words. Her speech sounded as though she had a swollen tongue or a speech impairment. The provider assessed the patient s tongue, throat, and tonsils. Mild redness was noted at the back of the throat, likely related to postnasal drainage. The patient denied dysphagia, arm weakness, fever, pain, and muscle aches. No facial drooping was observed. The patient reported that after receiving a vaccine on 4/22/26 along with Tdap vaccine, she went home, ate dinner, and went to bed without any speech difficulties. Upon waking the next morning on 4/23/26, she noticed she could not speak clearly and was having trouble talking. She subsequently attended a CDL physical exam and then presented to the clinic for evaluation. Given the acute onset of speech changes, the patient was instructed by the provider to go to the emergency room for further evaluation by a neurologist.
