Thursday 04/23/26 @ 1310, MAs notified me that additional dose of Fluzone 2026 was given too early. MAs stated they had already made parents aware. Infant was due to receive flu 2nd dose on 05/18/26 or later as 1st dose was received on 04/20/26. Provider APRN notified. At 1315 I came into exam room and discussed with parents in native language what occurred. Infant was on exam table doing tummy time content and smiling. No adverse reactions noted. Discussed common reactions of soreness, redness, or swelling at the injection site, low-grade fever, muscle aches, headaches, and fatigue. Discussed pain management with cold compresses and acetaminophen if needed. Discussed that would call to check-in in future days to check for any adverse reactions. Parents verbalized understanding and left clinic at 1345. Also discussed 2nd dose would still be needed as this dose does not count as given too early. This can be done in upcoming flu season of 2026-2027 in which to be fully immunized will need to 2 doses that season. Parents verbalized understanding
