The patient's past medical history included shingles (when patient was 56, started on his /her hairline in the back and moved along chin line and up towards mouth). On an unknown date, the patient received Shingles vaccine. On an unknown date, more than 2 years after receiving Shingles vaccine, the patient experienced vaccination failure (Verbatim: suspected vaccination failure) (serious criteria GSK medically significant) and post herpetic neuralgia (Verbatim: postherpetic neuralgia). The outcome of the vaccination failure was not reported and the outcome of the post herpetic neuralgia was not resolved. It was unknown if the reporter considered the vaccination failure and post herpetic neuralgia to be related to Shingles vaccine. The company considered the vaccination failure to be unrelated to Shingles vaccine. It was unknown if the company considered the post herpetic neuralgia to be related to Shingles vaccine. The patient reported that last year, at 77, patient developed postherpetic neuralgia. The patient was numb and very sensitive in the exact same area where patient had the shingles. The numbness lasted about two months, but the nerve pain remained and had persisted for ten months. The batch number was not provided and a request for this information has been made. This case was considered as suspected vaccination failure as details regarding completion of primary vaccination schedule and laboratory test confirming post herpetic neuralgia were unknown at the time of reporting.; Sender's Comments: A case of Vaccination failure, more than 2 years after vaccination with unknown dose of Shingles vaccine, in a 77-year-old patient.
