Symptom narrative

Nonarteritic anterior ischemicneuropathy (NAION); This is a spontaneous report received from a Physician from a sales representative. A 69-year-old female patient (not pregnant) received BNT162b2 (BNT162B2), on 06Jun2021 as dose 3 (booster), single (Batch/Lot number: unknown) for covid-19 immunisation. The patient's relevant medical history and concomitant medications were not reported. Vaccination history included: Covid-19 vaccine (DOSE 1; Manufacturer Unknown), for Covid-19 Immunization; Covid-19 vaccine (DOSE 2; Manufacturer Unknown), for Covid-19 Immunization. The following information was reported: OPTIC ISCHAEMIC NEUROPATHY (disability), outcome "recovered with sequelae", described as "Nonarteritic anterior ischemicneuropathy (NAION)". Therapeutic measures were taken as a result of optic ischaemic neuropathy. Clinical information: After taking the 3rd Covid vaccine, she suffered a nonarteritic anterior ischemicneuropathy (NAION). The information on the batch/lot number for BNT162b2 will be requested and submitted if and when received.; Sender's Comments: Based on known disease pathophysiology, the event optic ischaemic neuropathy is assessed as not related to suspect drug BNT162b2 and more likely an age related disorder in this elderly patient. Case to be reassessed once follow-up information becomes available.
