Symptom narrative

outbreak of Cellulitis; Lymphoedema; lymphadenopathy/lymphnodes are still swollen after taking 2 of these vaccines; there is still a bump where he received the shot; This is a spontaneous report received from a Consumer or other non-HCP from medical information team, Program ID. A 31-year-old male patient received BNT162b2 (BNT162B2 NOS), as dose 1, single (Batch/Lot number: unknown), in right arm and as dose 2, single (Batch/Lot number: unknown), in right arm for covid-19 immunisation. The patient's relevant medical history was not reported. There were no concomitant medications. The following information was reported: CELLULITIS (hospitalization), outcome "unknown", described as "outbreak of Cellulitis"; LYMPHOEDEMA (non-serious), outcome "not recovered"; LYMPHADENOPATHY (non-serious), outcome "not recovered", described as "lymphadenopathy/lymphnodes are still swollen after taking 2 of these vaccines"; VACCINATION SITE MASS (non-serious), outcome "not recovered", described as "there is still a bump where he received the shot". The patient was hospitalized for cellulitis (hospitalization duration: 14 day(s)). The event "outbreak of cellulitis" required emergency room visit. The patient underwent the following laboratory tests and procedures: Blood test: Unknown results. Therapeutic measures were taken as a result of cellulitis, lymphoedema, lymphadenopathy. Clinical course: the reporter is a friend of the patient, who called to report an adverse event. The product is the Comirnaty Pfizer covid-19 vaccine, however, she did not specify and is unaware of exactly which formula it is, but it was the formulas at the beginning. The reporter stated that after receiving two of these vaccines her friend developed lymphoedema, and agent thought maybe it was possibly, lymphadenopathy, but not sure which and she did state it's been a few years that her friend has had this. The reporter clarified her friend has swollen lymph nodes, can feel it underneath the skin and clarified condition as lymphoedema. When asked for the event start date, she stated she has known the patient for 3 years and he has had this since she has known him. Along with this lymphoedema, she has known he has had it prior to her meeting him and also he gets cellulitis which is something that is known and that it is common in those individuals with Lymphoedema and the risk of cellulitis is increased in chronic lymphoedema due to the protein rich lymphatic fluid servicing as an excellent medium for growth of bacteria. The patient had a cellulitis outbreak and was in the hospital for two weeks, but the date of event is unknown. The reporter believed that the patient had received treatment. In the beginning they thought it could be cancer and found that it was not and stated he has just kind of dealt with it since then, but the cellulitis recurs. When the cellulitis begins getting hot, the patient goes to the hospital, and they give him antibiotics and do blood tests (no results were provided for the patient). The patient usually goes to the emergency room because he knows he needs to get in as soon as possible for the cellulitis. The reporter also mentioned that the patient got the shot in his right arm and there is still a bump where he received the shot. The information on the batch/lot number for BNT162b2 will be requested and submitted if and when received.
