Symptom narrative

allergic to vaccine/reaction is swelling; This spontaneous report was received from a nurse and referred to a 25-year-old Female patient. The patient's concurrent conditions included sickle cell anemia. The patient was allergic to ceftriaxone, morphine, vancomycin, opioids (all captured as historical drugs). The patient's concomitant medications were not reported. In August 2013, the patient was vaccinated with pneumococcal vaccine, polyvalent (23-valent) (PNEUMOVAX 23) (dose, route of administration, anatomical location, lot number, and expiry date were not provided) for prophylaxis. Approximately in 2013, the patient experienced an allergy to the suspect vaccine, the reaction was swelling (allergy to vaccine). At the time of reporting, the outcome of the event was not provided. The causal relationship between the event and the suspect vaccine was considered as related. This one of the cases received from the same reporter.
