Symptom narrative

Redness of the skin around the injection site; Received the vaccination in their left arm / developed severe muscle pain; This is a spontaneous report received from a Pharmacist. An 83-year-old male patient received BNT162b2 omicron (lp.8.1) (COMIRNATY (2025-2026 FORMULA)), on 28Apr2026 as dose 1, 0.3 ml, single (Lot number: NA0738, Expiration Date: 19Jun2026) at the age of 83 years intramuscular, in left arm for covid-19 immunisation. The patient's relevant medical history and concomitant medications were not reported. The following information was reported: VACCINATION SITE PAIN (non-serious) with onset 2026, outcome "not recovered", described as "Received the vaccination in their left arm / developed severe muscle pain"; VACCINATION SITE ERYTHEMA (non-serious) with onset 2026, outcome "not recovered", described as "Redness of the skin around the injection site". Therapeutic measures were taken as a result of vaccination site erythema, vaccination site pain. Additional information: The pharmacist was calling because they had two patients received the Comirnaty on 28Apr2026 and both reporting what they are calling Covid arm. Both patients had redness of the skin around the injection site after the vaccinations. It was also then clarified that the husband (patient) never developed any blistering just the wife did. After a couple of days of receiving the vaccine, they both had developed severe pain in the muscle and then the skin from the upper part of the arm around the injection site turned red. All their symptoms are local to the arm where they received the vaccination. Both received the vaccination on left arm and both experienced redness and on the skin, the patient's wife developed pustules that have since broken and both developed severe muscle pain that has not completely resolved. The patient's wife said that it was a couple days after the vaccination when the redness and pain all of that started. It was not immediate. It had mild, muscle pain that then became more severe two or three days after the vaccination and then that was when the redness on the skin started. Treatment included over the counter pain reliever. They also applied Hydrocortisone cream to the skin.
