Symptom narrative

Pt. onset with fever on 5/8/26, max temp. 103, 101.6-101.8 for past 2 days prior to being seen in ER on 5/12/26. Maculopapular rash started on 5/12/26 on trunk, back and some on forehead. Pt. seen for these symptoms first in urgent care then in ER in 5/12/26. Provider had concern for possible measles and contacted local county health department.

Lab data

Measles PCR testing and MeVA PCR testing approved by local health jurisdiction. NP swab collected on 5/12/26, positive measles PCR and inconclusive MeVa results reported on 5/14/26. After consultation with State Department of Health and Infection Prevention team, County Health Department determined rash to be attributed and consistent with recent receipt of the MMR vaccine.
