Shingles; I can't sleep or eat; I can't sleep or eat; Suspected vaccination failure; This serious case was reported by a consumer via interactive digital media and described the occurrence of vaccination failure in a patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. The patient's past medical history included cancer (twice), knee replacement (twice), stroke (thrice) and surgery. Additional patient notes included 2 babies. On an unknown date, the patient received Shingles vaccine. On an unknown date, an unknown time after receiving Shingles vaccine, the patient experienced vaccination failure (Verbatim: Suspected vaccination failure) (serious criteria GSK medically significant), shingles (Verbatim: Shingles) (serious criteria hospitalization), sleeplessness (Verbatim: I can't sleep or eat) and unable to eat (Verbatim: I can't sleep or eat). The outcome of the vaccination failure was not reported and the outcome of the shingles, sleeplessness and unable to eat were not resolved. It was unknown if the reporter considered the vaccination failure, shingles, sleeplessness and unable to eat to be related to Shingles vaccine. The company considered the vaccination failure and shingles to be unrelated to Shingles vaccine. Additional Information: GSK Receipt Date: 16-MAY-2026 This case was reported by a patient via interactive digital media. It was reported that the patient had shingles which almost killed the patient and ended up 5 days on life support. The patient required hospitalization for over 2 months, including approximately 2 weeks in intensive care and followed by rehabilitation for more than 2 months. The patient reported ongoing symptoms even after approximately 9 months, including severe pain at the affected sites, inability to sleep at night, and difficulty eating. The pain was described as severe and persistent, similar to previous episodes. The patient reported that the shingles-related pain was unlike any previously experienced pain. The patient also questioned whether the condition would have occurred if the vaccination had not been taken. This case was considered as suspected vaccination failure as details regarding completion of primary vaccination schedule, time to onset for shingles and laboratory confirmation regarding shingles were unknown at the time of reporting.
