Symptom narrative

Patient came in on 5/18/2026 to receive a Tdap vaccine after a laceration on her lower right arm. She has received vaccines prior without any complications. She called on 5/26/26 and stated that she had typical arm soreness for 1-2 days afterwards but the pain progressed to her upper body/chest area and then began lingering in the opposite arm in which she received the vaccine. She complained about being unable to sleep on either arm and was struggling to lift her arm above her head. We counseled her on typical vaccine reactions and advised her to see her PCP as soon as possible. She was unhappy about having to see a doctor. Her PCP was unable to get her in until August so she went to an orthopedic doctor, Dr., on 6/3/2026. We walked through the symptoms again. She described the pain as radiating and numbness/tingling. I was able to observe where the injection site from the adhesive that remained. The injection did appear to be given in her deltoid. Dr. did an x-ray and provided the patient with a cortisone shot near the painful area of her shoulder and another in her hip. She stated that the doctor said it sounded like the vaccine may have hit a nerve. I asked if blood work was completed and she said no. Patient is highly concerned about medical bills and the intense pain she has had to endure for the last 16 days.
