Symptom narrative

reporting that, Prevnar 20 vaccine piece broke off when trying to use it; This is a spontaneous report received from a Consumer or other non HCP from product quality group. A patient (age and gender not provided) received pneumococcal 20-val conj vac (dipht CRM197 protein) (PREVNAR 20), as dose number unknown, single (Lot number: MW5934) for immunisation. The patient's relevant medical history and concomitant medications were not reported. The following information was reported: DEVICE BREAKAGE (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "reporting that, Prevnar 20 vaccine piece broke off when trying to use it". Additional information: The reporter reported that Prevnar 20 vaccine was about to be given to a patient, piece broke off when trying to use it. The reporter stated that when taking off blue cap, whole piece broke off. When clarified if vaccine came into contact with patient, the reporter stated that they were preparing to give to patient, and it broke before that. Later on the reporter clarified that it was unknown if there was any patient involvement. Causality for "reporting that, prevnar 20 vaccine piece broke off when trying to use it" was determined associated to device constituent of pneumococcal 20-val conj vac (dipht CRM197 protein) (malfunction).
