Patient came in and stated that ever since she got the flu vaccine at our pharmacy she has been having pain that radiates from the site she received the vaccine in her left arm. when she pointed to where the vaccine was given, it looked to potentially be given lower on the arm than normally administered for an IM vaccine. The patient states that she was not sure if the pain was due to her arthritis or if it could of been due to the vaccine. the patient stated that she can barely lift her arm past her shoulder and that the pain is bad all the time unless she puts athletic tape on her arm. I told the patient nerve pain was not a usually side effect for a vaccine, especially lasting for over 6 months. I asked her if she remembers having anything happen that could of caused her pain around the same time she got the vaccine and she stated she did not. She told me she had even gotten the pneumonia vaccine a few months later in the right arm with no issues like she had in her left arm with the flu vaccine. I told her I would report this in our system and to VAERS and get back to her if we get any more information. I told her at she may also want to check on her rotator cuff due to not being able to left her arm. I advised the patient to see her doctors so they could get to the bottom of the problem. She stated that she was already planning on setting up an appointment with the doctor about it.
