Parents report that on 5/24/2026 at 9 AM (approximately 46 hours after vaccination) they noticed some blisters on the left anterior thigh in the area the MMR and prenvar 20 vaccines were administered. He then developed some redness and warmth around this area which began to spread to an oval area of approximately 9 cm over the next 6 hours. He was mildly fussy, did not have fever. They took him to urgent (PM pediatrics). The diagnosis was presumptive cellulitis. He was prescribed Cephalexin 250 mg/5 ml and took 5 ml three times daily. The area on leg slowly improved over the next 4 days. He was seen at medical facility by Dr. on 5/27/26 and the area was improving - dull erythema in a 7 cm oval, not warm, had excoriated scabs centrally where the bisters had been and a 7 cm oval area of dull erythema without warmth or swelling. It was not tender. No fever. He was well appearing. He bore weight normally on his feet and legs. He was instructed to continue Cephalexin to complete 7 days. He was also prescribed mupirocin to put on the excoriated areas. He returned to the office on 6/3/26 with a faint, mild generalized blanching maculopapular rash on neck, trunk, upper arms and upper legs. He had completed Cephalexin and was taking no medication at that time. The left thigh at that time looked better with healed blsiters, 5 cm of very dull erythema without warmth of swelling. He was well appearing. No further issues or problems have been reported. Photographs were included in the medical record and are available for VAERS review if needed.
No illness at time of vaccination. In the prior month he was seen on 5/12/26 for nasal congestion, cough, no fever, and was wheezing. Was given albuterol neb treatment on 5/12/26. Testing was negative for RSV, influenza and Covid.
