Symptom narrative

pt seen 6/1 for well vist and got vaccines and 5 days later started having diarrhea . mucusy and bloody. Pt was seen 6/11 in the clinic and sent to the ER where all labs except Rota A positive, U/S abd neg for intussusception. Parents were told likely related to Rota vaccine. Baby is Breast fed. since the weekend mom has stopped taking the cow milk products Pt was taking a few ozs of the formula Enf before this happened and mom tried the nutramigen which made sxs of blood in stool worse so she stopped and relying mostly on BM. Per parents the blood in the stool has definitely improved, brought the diaper with stools with reddish stool which was soft, also showed previous stools with mucus and blood on phone. Fussy off and on It seems like the symptoms are multifactorial. Likely pt had borderline milk protein allergy and when got the rota vaccine it caused more sxs, including diarrhea with mucus and blood , and possibility of I/M Intussusception, and seems to be improving . Exclude cow milk products from mom's diet. Start Puramino formula, samples given. Discussed with parents that it may take 2-3 weeks for the cow milk protein to clear from BM after removing from diet. If sxs are not improving or worsening to RTC or to the UC/ER follow up 1-3 weeks rechk wt and chk stool
