Shingrix-Serious case of shingles after first dose of Shingrix/ serious outbreak of shingles in the sinus cavity and vocal cords; late second dose; This serious case was reported by a pharmacist via call center representative and described the occurrence of shingles in a male patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingrix) solution for injection for prophylaxis. On an unknown date, the patient received the 1st dose of Shingrix. On an unknown date, several months after receiving Shingrix, the patient experienced shingles (Verbatim: Shingrix-Serious case of shingles after first dose of Shingrix/ serious outbreak of shingles in the sinus cavity and vocal cords) (serious criteria life threatening and other: Serious per reporter) and incomplete course of vaccination (Verbatim: late second dose). The outcome of the shingles was unknown and the outcome of the incomplete course of vaccination was not applicable. It was unknown if the reporter considered the shingles to be related to Shingrix. The company considered the shingles to be unrelated to Shingrix. Additional Information: GSK Receipt Date: 15-JUN-2026 A pharmacist reported that a patient had received the first dose of the Shingrix vaccine three years ago and within the first few months had a serious case of shingles. The patient had a serious outbreak of shingles in the sinus cavity and vocal cords, and the patient had almost died. The pharmacist had received this information from the patient's spouse. The batch number was not provided upon follow up with the reporter.; Sender's Comments: A case of Herpes zoster, several months after vaccination with the 1st dose of Shingrix and not applicable after vaccination with the 2nd dose of Shingrix, in a male patient. Based on the available information a possible causality that the event was caused by GSK vaccine product cannot be ascertained. Further follow up information has been sought.
