Beginning about 1 week after vaccination, loss of feeling began in right hand and progressed over the next 7 days to left foot, right foot, then left hand. Severe pain in temples, leg and arm muscles, and between shoulder blades. Some pain in jaw. Swelling in left foot. Fever of 98.5, BP reached 190/122, swallowing muscles ineffective. Family physician unsure of cause for symptoms. Next day symptoms worsened, and went to local ER, then to different hospital and diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Began Intravenous Immunoglobulin treatments. During the 12 days in hospital, partial paralysis, nausea and loss of appetite occurred. Transferred to rehab center to continue recovery. (continued) transferred to rehab center because I had lost use of most muscles and ability to empty bladder. After 5 weeks there, I had recovered sufficiently to be discharged to continue rehab and recovery, eventually regaining ability to walk and discontinue self-catheter. 11 months after onset of symptoms, loss of feeling in toes due to neuropathy remains.
